Dr. Shimamura is an Associate Professor of Paediatrics at Harvard Medical School.  She holds the Samuel E. Lux, IV Chair in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.  Dr. Shimamura directs the Bone Marrow Failure and MDS Program at the Dana Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.  Her research focuses on pediatric bone marrow failure and clonal evolution.  Her laboratory studies genetic causes of BMF and MDS and models these disorders to identify potential therapies.  Dr. Shimamura is involved in the development of clinical trials testing new therapies for bone marrow failure.  Dr. Shimamura also directs the North American Shwachman Diamond Syndrome Registry.
