Thierry Peyrard, PharmD, PhD, European Specialist in Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, is the Director of the French National Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (CNRGS), Department of the National Institute of Blood Transfusion (INTS) in Paris. He has over 20 years of experience in transfusion medicine and blood banking. He authored or co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications and actively contributed to the discovery of four recently characterized human blood group systems (JR, LAN, VEL and AUG). He manages a research group at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) and teaches clinical immunohematology at the University of Medicine Pierre & Marie Curie in Paris. He is also a medical laboratory expert auditor for the ISO 15189 standard. Thierry Peyrard is the current Chair of the ISBT Working Party on Immunohematology and an active member of two other ISBT Working Parties: Red Cell Immunogenetics and Blood Group Terminology and Rare Donors.
